Next year is actually sooner than you think

At least if you live in Nuku'alofa. Why have most people never heard about it? Maybe because they're the first to celebrate new years eve, and we've ignored them since we're jealous? Or maybe it's because it's the most important commercial, transport and social center of Tonga. It comprises about 35% of the Kingdom's population.

It does? :O

Why this topic, really? Why this waste of space in this blog?
But what if that dimension Roger arrives in, doesn't have a time zone! What if Roger could stand for weeks in the same location? Actually, everything is possible in an adventure game, because in an adventure game the time is endless, and the main character might never get to experience the fire works if the game developers won't pick that as a theme!

Poor, poor game characters. It's like they really don't have a life outside the box.
Actually... Even though Nuku'alofa get their chance first to celebrate new years eye, that doesn't mean we'll post that music already 20+ hours before Hawaii and all those other countries. Maybe a little before 10 o' clock GMT time. MAYBE.

Hello, is this thing on?

Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Jan Jacob, and I have been introduced by Atle a few days ago, who has bestowed upon me the titles of 2nd project leader and co-writer, but don't believe everything he says about me. Unless he says that I am a genius, very handsome, romantic, and that I like long walks on the beach (ladies, you may e-mail me now).

With that out of the way, I do indeed help out on this project, by squeezing ideas out of my mind and into this wonderful game, Roger Foodbelly. I am loving every minute of it, even though it can be trying at times. In fact, making a game can be hazardous to your health, and should only be attempted by special people like the ones who are working on this project. If you are still determined to make your own game, then don't say I didn't warn you... by means of a poem, no less!

Making a game is very hard
Harder than eating frozen lard
Than teaching a rhino to dance
Or making a statue of bronze

Harder than pieces of diamond
Than running around Loch Lomond
with a weight tied around your neck
and two elephants right on your back

Than boiling a dinosaur egg
Or drinking beer straight from the keg
Or pulling a pirate's peg leg
while reading a bi-weekly mag

Then why persevere, you say
And very well you may
I have but one answer:
My rhino's a dancer

He and I run around Loch Lomond each day
and then we sculpt dinosaur eggs out of clay
We drink ale, wine and beer,
keelhaul a buccaneer

And we still have free time
to make us this rhyme
So creating a game
is to us... rather tame

Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve, and here's like I promised the christmas gift, first time ever to hit public eyes - the looks of the main character Roger Foodbelly presented to you as a christmas card!

Now, if you're from Scandinavia, you probably want to go for the scandinavian version. At least it's written in Norwegian.

Now, go and enjoy the christmas spirit! Happy holidays!

I was actually called Jan, Jan.

Again, I have a look at my old computer. Some stuff started to show up. Some of them, a brainstorm session where they kept calling me jan (instead of jannar or atle) got me curious.. Did they know of Jan back then? Did they actually have a look at the future? Or did they just shorten jannar?

I may never know.. But one thing is for sure. There's a Jan now, and this time he's for real.

Those of you who aren't aware of who Jan is, then SHAME ON YOU! :P
Anyway, he's the 2nd project leader, co-writer.. you name it! He was hired at the end of October, and our great minds together made the project put on speed. One week later the first episode's story and puzzles were completed! As a sidenote, I have never worked with someone who thinks about the same! Ingenious! Absolutely ingenious!

We're gonna make it!

Guess what I just found? A document in the old Roger Foodbelly folder on my old computer. The document is actually from June 05, where it says "We're GONNA make it!". That crossed my mind, and made me think about all the times it actually could be one of those games we see gets cancelled. But here we still are - alive 'n kicking! If only my internet connection could work right now, so I could post this positive word on the web.

Oh, I have this little ad image as well I found on the hard disc. It's been posted because I want to celebrate that the game is still alive and kicking!;)

Enjoy :)

Q&A at Just Adventure?

I just wanted to mention I revived an old thread from Just Adventure regarding the game. You can visit and ask away! I'll answer some questions there for some days or weeks, if you've got any!

A Christmas gift

As we've just got someone new onboard, there will be a special surprise for you near Christmas. You can also expect to have the first music for Roger Foodbelly (to be used or not to be used in the game) to arrive at the same time, or a little after.

The wikipedia article we put up for Roger has been taken down due to the game not being out yet. Hopefully it'll be up when more information has come out.

Also, expect the first previews and interviews in the coming months.

Hohoho :)
